She discussed how federal agencies such as OSHA and MSHA are addressing worker safety issues during the COVID-19 pandemic, and explained legal issues that employers may encounter as the situation evolves. Abrams also reviewed best practices occupational safety and health professionals can employ to protect workers from exposure to infectious diseases, and emphasized the need to continue to follow federal and state regulations that are designed to protect workers from known hazards in their industries. In addition, she addressed OSHA’s guidance on respirator fit-testing and recordkeeping during COVID-19, and shared suggestions for keeping construction workers safe on active job sites.
