Who We AreWho We Are

ASSP’s Healthcare Practice Specialty develops healthcare safety education programs and technical materials. It also identifies and promotes research around emerging healthcare safety technologies to better serve occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals in the healthcare industry. These include individuals working for hospitals, extended-care facilities, medical clinics, doctors’/dentists’ offices, psychiatric facilities, substance abuse facilities, paramedic operations and industries providing goods or services to medical facilities.

What We Do

For ASSP members within the Healthcare Practice Specialty, we provide the following:

  • Networking opportunities via social media groups, conference calls and in-person meetings like the annual Professional Development Conference so you can connect with top industry professionals
  • Professional development opportunities, including healthcare- and safety-focused education that you can immediately put into practice, mentor relationships that facilitate sharing knowledge and volunteer and leadership opportunities to build your skills and enhance your resume
  • Safety-related, healthcare-focused content and information that you can also immediately put into practice, share with employers and colleagues and use to create safe, productive work environments

Why It Matters

Workers in the healthcare industry face an abundance of health and safety hazards. We connect safety professionals within the healthcare industry with timely, educational and relevant information to help them improve worker, patient and facility safety.
