ASSP Elections

Holding a leadership position within the American Society of Safety Professionals gives you the opportunity to influence the Society’s direction and the safety profession’s future.

Get Elected, Develop as a Leader

Leadership opportunities within your organization may be limited — which can slow your career growth and advancement. However, ASSP provides alternative leadership avenues for members, who then benefit from a vast professional network, leadership training opportunities, and access to insights on the latest safety trends and innovations. This can position you for new responsibilities at work and create new opportunities for career growth.

Elected Leadership Positions

Often, getting involved at ASSP simply requires raising your hand and volunteering. Other times, it requires being elected by your peers. ASSP members must be elected to serve in the following leadership positions.

Candidate Requirements

To be eligible, you must be a professional member in good standing with ASSP and cannot concurrently hold other elected Society offices. Each candidate should also possess several "overarching qualifications” — clearly defined in Society Operating Guidelines, section 6.33, Criteria for Candidates for Society Office. Qualifications required of candidates include:

  • Involvement in ASSP initiatives on a council, committee or task force
  • Ability to motivate others, and organize and accomplish projects
  • Supportive of ASSP’s mission, objectives and strategic plan

Election Results

ASSP congratulates our most recently elected leaders, and we thank all candidates who participated and members who voted during the important election process.
