David A. Lockhart, CSP, CHST, is the Director of Loss Control for the Poole & Kent Company of Florida. David has a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University, and over 23 years of experience. He grew up in western South Dakota prior to moving to Arizona for a change of pace. This is where he entered the safety profession working for a large mechanical contractor. While in this for a position he was recommend for a position with Poole & Kent, in Miami, Florida. David has been recognized as the Safety Professional of the Year three times by the Construction Association of South Florida. He currently chairs the Mechanical Contractors Association of South Florida safety committee and a member of the national safety committee. He has served as President and Treasurer for the South Florida Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals. David has served as the chairperson for the Region IV, Professional Development Conference for two years and is currently active in the committee. He continues to promote safety and will share his knowledge with anyone.
As the Area Director, I would like to promote increased communication through social media, and emails to the members and potential members. Help chapters create excitement and value in membership. With meeting ideas and providing meetings with insightful topics, presentations, and networking.
The transition of chapter leadership is one of the most important functions of the outgoing officers. I would like to ensure that clubs create a succession plan for future leadership and proper transition of leadership. Increased participation of members as chapter leaders is critical to providing membership value.
