Platform Statement

I joined ASSP in April 2001, and recognize that it is substantially different today than it was 20 years ago.  Technology has changed, member needs have changed and how ASSP is managed has changed – which are all positive.  Having served as your Vice President of the Council on Regional Affairs for the past 3 years, and the Vice President of Region III from 2015-2019, we have worked diligently to shape today’s Society within a strategic vision.  If I am elected Director-At-Large, I want to continue to help shape the future of ASSP.

As a Director at Large, I will represent you as a member.  I joined the Council on Regional Affairs in 2015 and understand the challenges confronting our Sections, Chapters, Regions and even our Society itself. I want to help solve challenges through the simplification of processes and enhancing/developing tools to facilitate volunteer leadership.  Our members have great ideas on how to improve current systems or may have new ideas on how we can enhance the member experience.  I want to listen to you and be your voice at the Board level.

Secondly, I want to continue to develop and grow our future leaders.  As a member of Region III in 2002, I worked with Mike Thompson (Region III VP) to established the first Region III Student Leadership Conference.  We saw the need to engage students prior to becoming a professional in the workforce.   Building on that initial thought, CoRA recently developed and implemented the Student Section Support Tool which simplifies the student leader experience to prepare them for Chapter Leadership upon graduation.  By engaging OSH students in college, we can help shape the future of the profession, and ASSP.

I would be incredibly honored to be your Director-at-Large and will work tirelessly to continue making ASSP OUR Society.
