Dr. RD Plato, Ph.D. is the Founder and President of The Plato Group, a multi-faceted contractor specializing in force augmentation with subject matter experts (SME) supporting diverse missions for the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Interior, Naval Facilities Command, and Army Corps of Engineers, as well as other federal agencies, various state agencies and institutions, and private firms requiring SME consulting services.
Dr. Plato earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Master of Divinity prior to completing his post-graduate degree in sociology, a field that lends itself well to the practice of behavior-based safety.
Beginning shortly after his military service, Dr. Plato began his safety career in 1994 as an onsite construction safety officer at Pantex Nuclear Weapons Facility in Amarillo, Texas. Since that time, he has held positions of increasing responsibility and leadership in the occupational safety and health field, culminating in the founding of The Plato Group in 2012.
Since its founding, The Plato Group, under Dr. Plato’s leadership, has served in a safety-supervision capacity for multiple districts of the US Army Corps of Engineers and the US Navy Naval Engineering Facilities Command, ensuring compliance with EM 385-1-1 and other occupational safety and health regulations on military bases spanning the continental United States.
If elected, I promise to serve the Military Practice Specialty of ASSP with diligence and dedication. I have a strong passion for making every aspect of military service as safe as possible, given the extreme risk already undertaken by the women and men of the armed forces in prosecuting their primary mission of national defense.
