Christina Merriott, CHST, is a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering and Management. She started her career in the heavy highway construction industry as an estimator and project manager. Just over 5 years into her career, she was asked to consider a role in project scheduling and safety. 19 years later, working as a safety professional is where she’s meant to be. Around 4 years ago, Christina switched gears from a corporate safety role into consulting. Now she gets to work with a variety of construction trades and buildings across Indiana.
Christina achieved her Board of Certified Safety Professionals certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technician in 2015. She has served on the Central Indiana Chapter Board of Directors for over 10 years. While serving as the board President for 2 years in 2015-2016, she also served as the Deputy Regional Vice President for Region VII.
As an active member of the Central Indiana ASSP Chapter, I have grown both professionally and individually. Working with an amazing group of people in service to the safety profession inspires me to find more ways to actively give back to my community. As Region VII Vice President, I would have the opportunity to expand the community I get to serve. Facilitating communication between the Area Directors and Region VII Chapters will help us all grow in service to our members. Through sharing both our successes and struggles, we overcome adversity and build our networking resources.
