Speed Networking Adds Value to ASSP’s Seminarfest 2019

Jan 10, 2019

PARK RIDGE, Illinois — The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) understands how networking with peers can play a key role in achieving career-oriented objectives such as solving a business problem, advancing into a leadership role or even finding a new job. That’s why new speed networking events are part of Seminarfest 2019, an immersive educational experience for occupational safety and health professionals set for Jan. 24-31 in Las Vegas.

The fun, fast-paced sessions conducted by SpeedNetworking.com will take traditional face-to-face networking and combine it with the latest smart-matching technology. The result is a strategic, structured and rapid-fire networking event designed to help safety professionals share ideas and build business relationships in little time.

Each session typically lasts 45 to 90 minutes, with participants meeting someone new every 5 to 7 minutes. Before the event, registered attendees complete a profile that describes themselves and the type of safety professionals they hope to meet. An algorithm is used to sort profiles and create customized itineraries, so the quick business meetings are highly beneficial to both individuals.

“It takes the guesswork out of who’s in the room and puts you in front of people who are most likely to be helpful to your career,” said Aleese Eckenrode, senior manager of education and program development at ASSP. “When two speed networkers know they were matched for a reason, it gives them greater confidence that they will make a strong connection right away. Even people who consider themselves private and reserved have successful experiences.”

Many safety professionals take significant steps after Seminarfest because they are empowered to achieve their professional goals. The eight-day program features more than 90 educational courses delivered by 40 expert facilitators, covering the industry’s most relevant topics. The full-day course format allows attendees to gain in-depth knowledge on specific topics. Attendees can also earn up to 5.6 continuing education units (CEUs) and prepare for certification exams that lead to industry-preferred designations such as CSP, ASP, CHST and SMS.

Safety professionals can learn more about the vast educational opportunities at Seminarfest 2019 by visiting seminarfest.assp.org. Groups of five or more qualify for special rates by contacting ASSP group coordinator Nancy O’Toole at notoole@assp.org or 847.768.3466.
