President's Message

Volunteering can enrich your career and life with countless opportunities to make a meaningful impact. I would like to highlight five reasons you should consider becoming more involved and contributing in new ways to ASSP.

OSH is a joint effort that requires collaboration, communication and a sense of duty to one another. Our ASSP community supports your professional and personal growth and advancement throughout your career.

As members of ASSP and the OSH profession, living and leading with our CLEAR values demonstrates our commitment to each other, our work and ourselves.

I believe it is important that we look ourselves in the mirror not only to make sure we like what we see, but also to identify what we want to improve.

We all can be proud to be part of the community dedicated to protecting people, property and the environment. I know I am honored to stand with you as guardians of workplace safety. Together we are pursuing the vision that safety, health and well-being are inherent rights of all workers.

By strengthening and adapting our governance, we are creating a more responsive, accountable and member-centric organization. As we continue to evolve and fine-tune our governance, our aim remains clear: To better serve our valued members.

ASSP and the ASSP Foundation are proud to have supported the creation of the Triangle Fire Memorial. But it is all of us working together that can prevent tragedies like the Triangle fire from ever happening again.

ASSP's new strategic plan reinforces our unwavering commitment to our mission to be the community that protects people, property and the environment. It also highlights our vision as a leading voice of the OSH profession to cultivate a world where safety, health and well-being are inherent rights of every worker. It provides us with a road map for achieving continued excellence.

Embracing lifelong learning through ASSP and the ASSP Foundation, its charitable arm, can ensure that we remain at the forefront of our profession, safeguarding the well-being of workers and fostering an organizational culture that truly values workplace safety.

Think about planting a small seed, watering it, then watching it become something larger and more wonderful. When we take the time to connect with others, share our stories, offer encouragement and provide support, we help each other grow and flourish in many ways.

I will continue to support, mentor and contribute to ensure that we remain focused on what we do best—keeping workers safe, healthy and well.

We should strive not only to help workers return home in the same condition they arrived, but also to provide tools, resources and opportunities that help them return home in a better condition.
