Our Central Indiana Chapter donated $750 to Indianapolis scout Ryan Bakx to support his Eagle Scout project to construct plexiglass table dividers for Forest Glen Elementary School. These dividers will add a layer of protection and reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 and other viruses between students. Bakx’s goal was to construct 100 dividers during his fall break and deliver them to the school. The chapter’s donation helped Bakx purchase plywood and other supplies for the project. The chapter also donated gloves and safety glasses.
“I believe it’s important for ASSP chapters to get involved in community projects that help younger individuals,” says Central Indiana Chapter President Jeff Fox. “The Central Indiana Chapter has been working hard over the past few years to educate high school students on the profession and benefits of becoming a safety and health professional. Reaching out to the community by volunteering our time and providing financial assistance for safety-related projects is a key annual goal for our chapter. It’s just as rewarding for us as it is for the local communities and future safety professionals.”
