Our Society Operating Guidelines describe in detail the manner in which American Society of Safety Professionals is structured and governed. They are intended to accompany and be consistent with ASSP bylaws.

Section 5.2: Appointment Procedures for Councils and Committees

I. Procedure

Council/committee appointments will be made annually according to the following process. This process must also be used to fill vacancies on councils/committees. ASSP is committed to engaging a broad representation of members in a leadership capacity; every effort will be made to avoid an individual serving on multiple councils/committees.

Individuals wishing to be appointed on an ASSP standing committee must complete the Leadership Connection form on the ASSP website.

All submissions received through the form will be provided to the leader(s) responsible for the appointments. Appointments will be made based on the ability of the individual to fulfill the duties of the council or committee, as outlined in the council/committee position description based on the template provided.
