    ASSE Foundation helps two more students overcome family tragedy

    Through its Family Scholarship Fund, the ASSE Foundation awarded $10,000 scholarships to Lindsey Pinkerton of Nebraska and Samantha Wooten of New Hampshire. The fund provides educational scholarships to spouses and children to help reduce the financial impact of a loved one not returning home from work.​

    Research to Assess Effectiveness of OSH Education Programs

    Researchers are seeking to determine the effectiveness of current OSH education programs at community and technical colleges. The project is being conducted by researchers from UC Berkeley’s Labor Occupational Health Program (LOHP) and West Virginia University and funded through a grant from CPWR, The Center for Construction Research and Training.

    Elevated Asthma Rates in Metro Detroit Area Highlighted in Research Poster Session Grand Prize Winner

    NIOSH Assesses Young Worker Fatality Trends

    A new NIOSH report examines young worker fatalities that occurred between 1994 and 2013. The report presents information by demographic characteristics, employer characteristics, incident circumstances and temporal patterns. During this time period, 942 occupational fatalities occurred among youth workers, 88% of whom were male.

    App Promotes Young Worker Safety

    A new mobile app aims to educate young workers about workplace safety by awarding users with basic safety knowledge certificates. The young workers can then present the certificates to current or potential employers as a way to demonstrate their ability to be a safe worker.
