American Society of Safety Professional's Board of Directors is responsible for the organization’s management and governance, and for planning and implementing strategies, programs and activities that advance the organization’s mission.

Requirements

To be eligible, you must be a professional member in good standing with ASSP and cannot concurrently hold other elected Society offices. Each candidate should also possess several "overarching qualifications” — clearly defined in Society Operating Guidelines, section 6.8, Criteria for Candidates for Society Office. Qualifications required of candidates include:

  • Involvement in ASSP initiatives on a council, committee or task force
  • Ability to motivate others, and organize and accomplish projects
  • Supportive of ASSP’s mission, objectives and strategic plan

Board of Directors – Candidate Requirements

ASSP seeks to develop a Board of Directors that has a strategic combination of demonstrated knowledge skills & abilities, personal attributes, knowledge/expertise and competencies that ensure that our Board, has a diversity of experiences, perspectives, information, connections, and skills to carry out the mission of the organization. The required and desired competencies for the 2022 - 2023 Board of Director Candidates will be published in June 2022.
