public-sector-mainWho We Are

ASSP’s Public Sector Practice Specialty community is the premier resource for members seeking technical safety and health knowledge regarding topics unique to the public sector. We cater to occupational safety and health professionals who work for governmental agencies and facilities at the federal, state, county, municipal and institutional levels in all types of communities.

What We Do

For ASSP members within the Public Sector Practice Specialty community, we provide the following:

  • Networking opportunities via social media groups, conference calls and in-person meetings like the annual Professional Development Conference so you can connect with top industry professionals.

  • Professional development opportunities, including public sector- and OSH-focused education that you can immediately put into practice; mentor relationships that facilitate sharing knowledge; and volunteer and leadership opportunities to build your skills and enhance your resume.
  • Safety-related, public sector-focused content and information that you can also immediately implement as well as share with employers and colleagues to create safe and productive work environments.

Why It Matters

The public sector is an expansive arena with risks that affect both the public and employees. The hazards found in this arena are dynamic and diverse, which is why you need access to a network of peers who can provide guidance on public sector safety challenges. Our network of professionals also connects you to the latest technical content on unique topics, such as emergency preparedness, school safety, public health, parks and recreation safety, and public sector workers’ compensation.
