Biography

I am Dashelle Ricord a safety specialist with over 16 years’ experience and currently works for The Southern Ute Growth Fund as a Health & Safety Compliance Specialist. I was born in Bellingham, WA and have spent my life in the Four Corners area. I recently graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University and received my GSP.  I am currently studying for my CSP.  With my desire to help others I obtained my EMT-I and have worked for the local hospital and have done medical standby for rodeos & motor cross. My EMT career is what launched me into safety. I am the current president for our local ASSP Four Corners Chapter, which I have been a full-time member of since 2011.  I am a mother of 7 and grandmother of 6 and I enjoy spending quality time with my family. Some other passions I have are traveling, camping, being near water, riding my Harley and reading a good book. I am an avid learner and enjoy sharing my knowledge with others.

Platform Statement

I have been attending ASSP since 2007 when I started out in the safety field. Prior to safety I was an EMT and worked in the hospital and have done medical. I have always loved to help others. One of my first jobs was working for a mortuary and for the office of the medical investigator. In these positions I was able to help others after something had happened. I was able to help people before they ended up in the hospital or the mortuary. Safety has become my passion, and the ASSP has been a huge help in fueling my passion.

Over the past few years, I have become more involved with the chapter and ASSP. I believe I am being given this opportunity for a reason. I want to be in a position where I can help other chapters, but also to learn how to help my own chapter.

My vision as Region II Area A Director is to become more involved with our chapters, to form new relationships and to be able to help where needed. I want to learn and grow through this position as not only a ASSP member but also as a leader. Being in a leadership role comes with responsibility and I want to be able to live up to and exceed what the expectations are for me. ASSP is the backbone of where we are today, they have urged us on, given us the tools to get there and applauded us when we arrived. I am proud to be part of such an amazing organization and I it is my goal to be the best Area A Director.
