I have been in a Safety Professional for nine years, prior to that holding various internships and volunteer positions within the safety world. I started my career with the Military District of Washington, in Washington, D.C. and transitioned to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers working in the Fort Worth District, Huntington District as part of the Regional Rivers Repair Fleet and taking a temporary promotion as the District Safety Chief for the Transatlantic Expeditionary District covering Kuwait, Iraq, and the Central and Southeast Asia Countries. Upon returning to the Regional Rivers Repair Fleet, I left federal employee for a new challenge as a safety consultant for a global company. I hold the Certified Safety Professional designation and am also a member of the common interest group, Women in Safety Excellence. I am passionate about Women's PPE and the fit and availability for all employees. I've worked on large scale military events within Washington, D.C. to projects with floating cranes on the Ohio, from the military installations in Louisiana to the deserts of Kuwait and Iraq. One thing I've taken from every job is safety is never about me; it's about the people I work with, build programs with, and share the wins with.
Missions, collaboration, teamwork, growth, community. These are words we describe those we work with and rely on but they are also the words of this community. The 'Lean Walk' is an exercise where you lean into one another to create a stable walking motion relying on the other person to help keep you upright and balanced. We are the Military Practice Specialty, and we keep each other moving forward, leaning on one another for growth, support, and community
