Biography

A little about me: Married for 37 years, mother of two grown successful daughters and sons-in-law, grandmother of three wonderful grandbabies, and several fur babies. Grown up in the Eastern Washington – in a little agricultural town of Benton City. I spent my summers working the orchards and flipping hamburgers at a local mom/pop restaurant.

I enjoy spending time with my family – still working in our orchards and spending time at our cabin in Oregon. I take time to visit my extended family in Texas and I take as many cruises as I get the chance.

I started my Safety and Health career at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in the High School co-opportunity program. After 30 years, working in safety, emergency preparedness, and industrial hygiene; I changed paths and started work for consulting company as their Safety Advisor contracted to an underground heavy industrial/civil and paving contractor.

During my tenure at ASSP, I have held several positions within my local Chapter, Lower Columbia Basin. I have been the Secretary, Vice President, President, and Delegate. In addition to the local Chapter, I have volunteer at the region level. Currently I am the Region 1 Secretary, for which I have held for several years. Past positions within the Region 1, I have held the Deputy Region Vice President and appointed the Area 1 Area Director to serve out the term as needed.

Platform Statement

The Region 1 – Area 1 - Area Director supports Alaska, Hawaii and Washington Chapters in creating a meaningful, mentoring and teaching experience for its area members.

As Area Director, I want to assist the Chapters in meeting their goals, to be successful as a Chapter and have fun as a group, learning, mentoring and making new and lasting friends.

This will be accomplished through communication with the Chapter leaders, visits with each chapter, and having successful Regional Operating Committee. Assisting each Chapter with their goals in cooperation to make their Chapter year a fun and learning experience that they have set.

My goal is to help Chapter leaders understand the COMT process, assist where needed and be active member in ASSP. I will use my experience in Chapter, Region and Society Leadership to help Chapter Leaders address the challenges that arise within their Chapters; and provide resources to their members.
