    OSHA Extends Some Compliance Dates for Beryllium Standard

    OSHA is extending the compliance date for specific ancillary requirements of the general industry beryllium standard to Dec. 12, 2018. The extension maintain essential safety and health protections for workers, the agency states, while giving it time to work on a proposal that would clarify certain provisions of the standard and address employers’ compliance burdens.

    OSHA Proposes Rule to Better Protect Personally Identifiable Information

    OSHA has issued a notice of proposed rulemaking that it says will better protect personally identifiable information or data that could be reidentified with a particular individual. This rulemaking would remove provisions of the agency's current recordkeeping rule.

    New Academic and Research Council to Advance Safety and Health Profession

    ASSP has created the Council on Academic Affairs and Research, its first new council in 20 years. Among its objectives, the new council will develop and maintain a research agenda that supports the OSH profession, and encourage the translation of research to practice. The group will also work to bring more students into the profession.
  • ASSP Urges Senate Leaders to Move Ahead on Mugno Confirmation Vote

    Jul 11, 2018
    ASSP is calling on Senate leaders to move ahead with the vote on the nomination of Scott Mugno as head of OSHA. Mugno was nominated in late October 2017 and has been approved twice by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
