Biography of Akingbade Ayodeji Akintounde, CSP, MSc, MBA Akingbade Ayodeji Akintounde is a distinguished Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) expert and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with a robust academic foundation and over two decades of cross-sector experience. He holds Master's degrees in Safety Management (West Virginia University, USA), Master's degree in Epidemiology (University of Ibadan), and Master's in Business Administration-MBA (Bayero University Kano), uniquely positioning him at the intersection of safety, public health, and strategic leadership. His career began in education and public health before transitioning into the corporate sector, where he rose through the ranks at Nestlé, leading teams across Nigeria and East Africa. There, he implemented data-driven safety practices that improved employee well-being and operational outcomes—most notably delivering 15.6% organic growth with zero fatalities during his tenure in Equatorial Africa. After relocating to the U.S., he earned a 4.0 GPA in his Safety Management program and supported safety research at West Virginia University. He has since held EHS roles at Amazon, FirstEnergy, and currently serves as an EHS Specialist with Prince William County Government, applying data analytics to inform policy, compliance, and risk mitigation. Akingbade is also the founder of DataBacked Safety Consulting Services LLC, positioned to helping organizations achieve compliance and build custom, risk-based safety programs. As an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer and speaker at the 2025 R&I Summit, he continues to shape the safety profession through thought leadership, mentorship, and a passion for measurable impact.

As a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with over two decades of experience spanning corporate safety leadership, public health, and data analytics, I bring a deep commitment to advancing proactive, data-driven safety management practices across industries. My background includes leadership roles at Nestlé across West and East Africa, where I led high-performing teams to deliver strong business results—achieving 15.6% organic growth with zero fatalities by prioritizing safety at every level. In the U.S., I have served as an EHS professional at Amazon, FirstEnergy Corp, and currently at Prince William County Government, where I support county-wide risk management strategies using analytics to inform safety policies and performance. My academic journey includes Master’s degrees in Safety Management (West Virginia University), Epidemiology (University of Ibadan), and Business Administration (Bayero University Kano). I am an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer and founder of DataBacked Safety Consulting Services LLC, focused on helping organizations use data to drive compliance, hazard mitigation, and strategic decision-making. As a volunteer, I’ve supported OSHA Training Institute Education Centers and mentored emerging professionals. I was also a speaker at the recent 2025 R&I Summit where I presented on Using Data Analysis to drive Fleet Safety and Management Program for Organization. If elected, I will bring a collaborative, evidence-based leadership style to support the Practice Specialty’s growth, promote diversity and inclusion, and enhance value for members by sharing practical tools, thought leadership, and professional development opportunities.
