My name is Padrick O'Shaughnessy, and I currently work as a regional safety manager for Aligned DC covering the Pacific Northwest and also south central regions. I have well over 25 years of construction safety and risk management experience. I hold the CSP, ASP, and CHST designations from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. I earned degrees in construction management and also civil engineering, as well as post graduate credentials for engineering management and fire and explosion engineering. I am currently earning a masters in Security & Disaster and Emergency Management from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I am an honorably discharged veteran of both the United States Navy, as well as US Army Reserve serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have had the good fortune to work in construction starting out as a 14 year old laborer pulling nails out of 2x4s and cleaning up sites after school and on the weekends. I later earned credentials for journeymen carpenter and also certified welder working my way up from lead carpenter to foreman, and assistant superintendent, and general superintendent, and later as a major construction project manager for a major general contractor by 30 before moving over to safety and risk management and have really enjoyed this journey in construction safety. The most important thing about me is I am a father to the most amazing kids who are my life.
For me this would be a massive honor to give back to the ASSP and meet as many of the members as possible. I want this challenge to see how I can improve what we do and work as hard as I can to bring awareness of the challenges and opportunities for construction safety. To do this I will need to be as visible as possible and get out into the public where I can show the benefits to the people and community of ASSP and our leadership in the construction industry. Thank you all so much for what you do!
