Biography

John Suter, CIH, CSP, ARM,  is a safety professional with over 30 years of experience assisting companies in improving their safety performance.  He is currently the owner and principal of Assured Health and Safety Solutions in Marlton, NJ.  John has worked with companies of all sizes, from Main Street to the Global 500.  He has a broad range of experience in industrial hygiene, ergonomics, machine safety, safety management, product liability and property protection.

John is Secretary of the Consultants Practice Specialty, and previously served as the Consultant Referral Coordinator.  He was honored to have received the 2020 Safety Professional of the Year award from the Consultants Practice Specialty.  He also currently is the Vice President for the ASSP Philadelphia Chapter, and previously served as Delegate and Newsletter Editor.  John is also a member of the ASSP Leadership Conference Planning Committee.  He previously served as a member of the ASSP Total Worker Health Taskforce, helping to develop ASSP’s resources and involvement in this emerging, holistic approach to employee well-being.

John is active in other organizations as well, including the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the American Society for Testing and Materials.  His education includes a Master’s degree in Safety Management from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University.

Platform Statement

Thank you for the opportunity to be considered for the Assistant Administrator of the Consultants Practice Specialty.  I have spent my entire career as a safety consultant, first in the insurance industry and now as the owner of a safety consulting company.  This gives me a strong understanding of the needs of our members.  I understand that consultants need strong safety expertise, but also expertise in marketing, selling our recommendations, and other business skills.  We also look for opportunities to network with other safety professionals.

But I understand that these needs of our members change over time, like in these pandemic times!  And I understand that our membership is diverse.  Some of us are employed by large consulting companies, some by small companies, and some are independent.  We specialize in different industries and different technical disciplines. 

As a Practice Specialty leader, I promise to inquire about these diverse needs and do our best to develop webinars, resources and other services to address them.
