Platform Statement

It has been over 16 years now since I became a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals, and it has been a great journey.

I recall attending meetings for an entire year as a guest before finally committing to membership in 2014. That first year was intimidating, I remember thinking “there is no way I can ever be like these folks, full of knowledge and experience”, often questioning myself with the same question: Do I really belong here? The answer came to me once I realized that many of those around me wanted to see me succeed, when I felt part of the community of ASSP. Once I was able to see beyond my own precisions and assumptions I realized the amazing possibility in front of me, the opportunity to expand my circle of service by serving the profession, ultimately ASSP was the way to do that.

During my membership journey I’ve had the privilege to serve in different capacities to different groups, be it as Treasurer, President-Elect, President, Delegate or Common Interest Administrator. Serving and learning from leaders across our region while in attendance to several ROC meetings, paying close attention to what can be improved to allow us to better serve the members in our chapters and region. I stand before you to request your consideration for Director of our Region to once again allow me to expand my circle of service, and to provide me with the opportunity to find new ways to serve within our Region and Society.
