ASSP is pleased to announce a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Construction Safety Research Alliance (CSRA) at the University of Colorado Boulder, formalized this fall and celebrated publicly at CSRA’s annual Safety Summit in November. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing evidence-based approaches to worker safety and strengthening the connection between research and professional practice.
CSRA is widely recognized for its rigorous, data-driven research on serious injury and fatality (SIF) prevention and other emerging issues in the construction industry. ASSP, with a global community of more than 36,000 safety professionals, brings deep expertise in translating research into practical resources that support safer workplaces across all industries.
By working together, ASSP and CSRA aim to strengthen the flow of knowledge between researchers and practitioners. The partnership will create opportunities to share insights, explore joint learning experiences and elevate safety research through ASSP’s communication and education platforms. Over time, the organizations will also consider projects that help safety professionals critically evaluate evidence, apply research more effectively and engage in conversations that shape the future of the profession.
This collaboration builds on the work both organizations have already undertaken to address SIF prevention and promote evidence-driven decision-making. The partnership was introduced to the CSRA community during the Summit, where ASSP President Linda Tapp highlighted the potential impact of connecting CSRA’s research excellence with ASSP’s broad professional network.
“Progress in safety is never achieved in isolation,” Tapp shared during her remarks. “By bringing together world-class research and the professionals who put that research into action, we can accelerate meaningful change and help ensure safer outcomes for workers everywhere.”
