Biography

Gabriel Atencio, CHST, STSC, Industrial Engineer, Safety Engineering Specialist, CHST and STSC by BCSP, ISO 45001 and 14001 Lead Auditor, with international experience in the oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, and warehousing industries.

Lead of Construction and Commissioning HSE at Linde Engineering North America Inc. Since 2018 to present. Leading the implementation of the HSE management system for the construction and commissioning projects of process plants. Managed so far 15+ Million Man hours with TRCR 0.29.

HSE Analyst II at Empresas Polar. From 2014 to 2017. Enforced the Safety Management System, by the initiative of empowering leaders, through the coordination of internal cross audits, promoting the main goal of 100% safe operation. Boosted the best KPIs results nationwide in the organization by constantly couching leaders and employees.

HSEQ Coordinator at Petrosema from 2012 to 2014. Developed the proposal of the Integrated Management System of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality, according to ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards, to improve all processes related to the solids control oil services.

HSEQ Coordinator at Le Mirage C.A. from 2011 to 2012. Led the implementation of the Health and Safety Program for four construction projects and supervised a team of HSEQ inspectors.

HSE Intern at Baker Hughes from 2010 to 2011. Conducted an ergonomic study of the field personnel for the product line Atlas (Wireline Services) and Oil Tools (Well Completions), by carrying out industrial hygiene assessments and proposing improvement action plans for working conditions.

Platform Statement

My goal is to positively influence and increase awareness on safety in the construction industry by encouraging participation, connecting safety professionals, and providing practical, educational, and relevant information to improve worksite safety and promote networking opportunities with colleagues facing common safety challenges. In this way share lessons learned from incidents, while at the same time cultivate connections within the ASSP community and support its mission: “working together for a safer, stronger future” and making our world more productive.
