Platform Statement

I have been a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals and the Great Plains Chapter for over 20 years. I am currently serving as an Area Director (Area 2) and am a Professional Member of the Society. In the various leadership roles that I held in the Great Plains Chapter and as current leader in Region V, I have worked to serve ASSP members. I see the position of Regional Vice President- Region V as a continuation of that service. Over the last 3+ years, ASSP, Region V Chapters and the members in Region V have faced a variety of challenges and changes. Due to this, the need for help and support has grown. The Regional Vice President Role is crucial to helping the Chapters face both current and future challenges.

As Regional Vice President for Region V, I will support the ASSP’s new Strategic Plan, which includes focusing on the Member Community. ASSP is the community that protects people, property, and the environment. Chapters are a primary interface with the member community and as such it is important for them to support and engage their members community. I will support the Chapters and promote an increase in networking, communication, and collaboration among Region V Chapters so they can enhance the experience of their members. This includes:

  • Working with Chapters to develop or enhance mentoring of members, especially those new to the HSE field.
  • Providing resources, support, and opportunities for new and seasoned leaders,
  • Promoting cross-chapter learning and networking opportunities for members
  • Working with Chapters to enhance engagement with their members.

In addition, I will work with Society and Chapters to instill ASSP’s CLEAR values of Community, Leadership, Excellence, Accountability and Respect within Region V.
