Sondra Lavoie, CSP, CHST, STS

Biography

Sondra Lavoie, CSP, CHST, STS is a Risk and Loss Control Specialist. Sondra has over 27 years of experience in the construction industry and 13 of them being in safety, risk, and loss control. Sondra is based in Boise Idaho and specializes in risk and safety loss control with Morton and Company. Her passion for safety and understanding the needs for the construction workforce safety has been recognize twice by the BCSP with the Award of Excellence in Safety. She is a keynote speaker on several topics regarding effective, intentional, and impactful communication for construction safety. Sondra received her Bachelor of Science from Columbia Southern University and was recently honored in an alumni periodical on the challenges of being an adult learner with dyslexia. She has an immense amount of grit and passion for doing a job right.

Sondra believes in adaptable leadership, and she gives service to multiple safety communities. She has contributed to the American Society of Safety Professionals as part of the advisory group to the board and to the Board of Certified Professionals as an exam item writer. Personally, she can be seen volunteering for various non-profits hosting 1st aid/CPR class for their volunteers, helping advise on safety and risk, and being a “go to person” for community events.

My advice to every woman is to measure your success by the amount of safety, care, kindness, and humanity people feel in your presence. This is success and will come back to you tenfold.

I am deeply committed to advocating for the empowerment and safety of women in all aspects of life. Joining the Women in Safety Excellence aligns perfectly with this core belief. It is essential to recognize and address the unique challenges that women face in the workplace.

By being a part of WISE, I aim to foster an inclusive environment that not only encourages more women to pursue careers in safety but also ensures their success and advancement within the field. I believe that diversity in perspectives and experiences leads to more effective problem-solving and innovative solutions.

Furthermore, I am passionate about dismantling barriers that hinder women from thriving in their professional lives. WISE provides a platform to actively engage with like-minded individuals, share knowledge, and develop strategies that can create positive, lasting change. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute my skills, insights, and energy towards this vital cause.

Together, we can create a safer, more inclusive workplace for all, where women are not only protected but also empowered to excel and lead in the field of safety. Serving as the assistant administrator for the Women in Safety Excellence is a tangible step towards realizing this vision.
