Stephanie L. Johnson

Stephanie JohnsonStephanie is a visionary EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) executive with over two decades of experience in driving program enhancements and achieving positive outcomes. She has successfully led EH&S initiatives across various industrial sectors, including Fortune 500 companies. Her extensive experience spans industries such as construction, transportation, manufacturing, semiconductor, and communications. Stephanie holds professional certifications as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).

Currently, she serves as the Director of EH&S at AT&T, where she has oversight for establishing corporate EH&S standards, implementing health and safety programs, developing and executing training initiatives, and managing health and safety during emergency response activities. With responsibility for the safety of over 4,000 frontline workers and presence in most states, she strategically integrates emerging EH&S program management approaches, and data and predictive analytics, to focus EH&S efforts resulting in significant reductions in workplace incidents and environmental non-compliances. Her expertise includes risk assessment, regulatory compliance, environmental and safety management, and employee training.

Stephanie joined the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Board of Directors on July 1, 2023. In her dual leadership role, she also serves as a trustee of the ASSP Foundation, the Society’s charitable arm. An ASSP member since 2007, Stephanie has held several leadership positions, including roles within Region III, the local chapter, and the Blacks in Safety Excellence Advisory Council. She has also contributed to the Society’s Professional Development Conference Planning Committee and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit Planning Committee.

Beyond her professional achievements, Stephanie is actively involved in her community with a passion for STEM and Arts education. She serves on the boards of Texas Exes – Dallas Chapter and the Dallas Black Dance Theater. Additionally, she is a member of the College of Natural Sciences Advisory Council at the University of Texas at Austin, her alma mater.
