OSHA Extends Comment Period for Rule on Crane Operator Certification

Jun 18, 2018
OSHA will accept comments on its proposed rule on crane operator certification through July 5, 2018, to allow stakeholders more time to review the rule's provisions, the agency says. According to the Federal Register notice announcing the 15-day extension, commenters should reference OSHA-2007-0066.

According to National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators, several industry groups have expressed concerns about the rule's employer evaluation section. OSHA developed this section to address the notion that certification alone does not ensure that an operator is qualified.

OSHA maintains a safety and health topics page on crane/derrick hazards and best safety practices.
