We hosted our 15th Annual Future Safety Leaders Conference Nov. 7-8 in Oak Brook, IL. Nearly 150 students from 48 different colleges and universities from across the U.S. participated in the event. This year's theme, "Leading Courageously," reflected the goal to provide tools and resources that will enable our student members — the future leaders of the occupational safety and health profession — to grow within the society, within the profession and personally.

Rebecca Bratton, an ASSP member and owner of Courageously Leading delivered the keynote message focused on the conference theme. Julius Rhodes, an ASSP Foundation trustee, shared insights on the role of emotional intelligence in today's world. In addition, Justin Artman, treasurer and past president of ASSP's Illinois State University Student Section shared examples of the section's initiatives. The section was named ASSP's Outstanding Student Section in 2018-19.

Students also attended breakout sessions on topics such as human performance, virtual interviewing and professional manners and leadership, and participated in mock interviews with employer representatives.
