Letter to International Practice Specialty Members

Jun 05, 2020

Dear International Practice Specialty Members:

As part of our efforts to reimagine the International Practice Specialty, we are introducing a new name for the community: Global Operations Practice Specialty. The new name will go into effect on July 1, 2020. This is an exciting time as we refocus our efforts to better serve ASSP members who have global responsibilities regardless of where they are located.

Here are some important things for you to know:

  • Our focus is occupational safety and health professionals who have responsibilities for global operations, both facilities and employees.
  • We are particularly focused on providing you an opportunity to network, exchange information, and share innovative ideas and best management practices with other members from around the world.
  • This change will enable us to grow membership in our community, deliver greater value overall, and provide a positive member experience.

To provide some additional insight into our reimaging efforts, we have posted a series of frequently asked questions (FAQs).

Another important part of this process is the need to elect a new Administrator and Assistant Administrator to lead the Global Operations Practice Specialty. We are seeking qualified candidates for each office for our special election soon. You can learn more about these roles here. We hope to hear soon about your interest in serving in either leadership role!

We are excited about the future of our Global Operations Practice Specialty, and we look forward to working with you to share best practices that enable all of us to more effectively manage risks and implement proactive solutions to our common safety challenges.

We would like to invite you to join us for a free webinar, Multicultural Considerations in Safety Communications and Training, delivered by Eldeen Pozniak. Monday, August 10, 2020, 11:30 a.m. Central Time. Register now.

Thank you!

Bernard McDonald, CSP, CIH, REM, CHMM
Vice President, Council on Practices and Standards (2016 – 2020)

Bala Siva Srikanth Adivi, CSP, CFIOSH
Administrator, International Practice Specialty
