Back to Back Winner Millersville University Named 2025 Outstanding Student Section

May 20, 2025

For the third time in four years, our Millersville University Student Section has been named the Outstanding Student Section of the Year. The section reported strong results in all three critical requirements — professional development, research, and campus and community Involvement. Regarding the section’s research, the committee stated, “The initiative to explore emerging technology and its impact on safety is commendable. This approach gives students the opportunity to explore ways to integrate emerging technology into their future practice of safety.” They also mentioned “Overall, impressive with providing professional development and engagement opportunities to student section members and to those on and off campus”, factoring in its selection for top honors. Faculty advisor Betty-Jo Bowers, Ph.D., CSP, and the section will receive $5,000 to fund scholarships and research.

All other student sections that qualified for the award will receive a $500 stipend from ASSP.
