Apr 14, 2026

Top honor recognizes leading research and guidance to advance workplace safety

PARK RIDGE, Ill. — April 14, 2026 — The Professional Safety Journal (PSJ) today announced the first-, second- and third-place recipients of its annual Article of the Year award. The recognition honors the journal’s most impactful content, highlighting innovative research, practical guidance and thought leadership that advance the field of environmental health and safety (EHS).

This year’s winning articles address timely and critical issues affecting the safety profession, including heat stress, cognitive bias and safety culture:

PSJ is the flagship journal of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP). First published in 1956, the peer-reviewed journal reaches more than 35,000 safety professionals worldwide as a member benefit.

“Each year, the Professional Safety Journal publishes research and practical guidance designed to help prevent workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities,” says Krista Hyde, PhD, MBA, CSP, chair, ASSP Editorial Review Board. “We congratulate this year’s recipients on their work to bring critical issues to the forefront and deliver meaningful insights that help improve safety outcomes across industries. We encourage safety professionals to share their expertise with the journal, as their firsthand experience and knowledge can drive lasting, positive change.”

Recipients will be recognized at ASSP’s annual professional development conference, Safety 2026, taking place June 15-17 in Anaheim, California.
