ASSP has joined OSHA, the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the Construction Safety Research Alliance (CSRA) and the National Safety Council (NSC) in a new SIF Prevention Alliance. ASSP President Monique Parker, CSP, represented the Society at the signing in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 29, 2026.
The Alliance’s initial priorities include developing and sharing a common set of core principles for SIF prevention. The participating organizations will also collaborate on practical resources, education and opportunities to exchange research and effective workplace safety practices. The goal is to help employers, workers and safety professionals better identify and prevent SIFs.
For ASSP, the Alliance is another way to bring members' knowledge and experience into broader conversations about workplace safety. This work complements ASSP’s ongoing SIF prevention efforts, including its SIF Prevention Convenings, which bring stakeholders together to explore challenges and opportunities in SIF prevention, and its Standards-Based User Groups (SBUGs), which engage practitioners around specific standards and their application in the workplace.
The Alliance is just beginning, with opportunities ahead to turn shared knowledge into practical approaches that can help make workplaces safer.
