ASSP Members & Communities Support COVID-19 Efforts

As COVID-19 continues to affect everyone, ASSP members and communities are pulling together to help.

Transitioning its monthly meeting to a virtual event, our Central Florida Chapter hosted Phillip Russel, a labor and employment attorney, who delivered a presentation on how the pandemic has impacted OSHA guidance on recording COVID-19 exposures and respirators, and how it is conducting inspections in other cases.

Our Northwest Chapter teamed up with the local American Industrial Hygiene Association section and invited participants to make a donation to a local effort that provides meals for people experiencing difficulties during Minnesota’s stay-at-home directive. The event raised more than $800 for those in need.

Sebastien de Ghellinck, a member of our New York City and New Jersey chapters, as well as the Society’s Construction, Management, and Oil, Gas, Mining and Mineral Resources practice specialties, has worked with his company, SkillSignal, to produce a free COVID-19 resource guide for safe construction sites. The guide provides best practices, recommendations and checklists to keep construction sites safe during a pandemic.

“Most likely no construction executive had a pandemic plan folder lying around on their bookshelves or on their computer desktop,” says de Ghellinck. “Such a plan is now becoming essential to safely reopen and expand projects and work sites.”
