Members Share Best Practices for Addressing COVID-19

As the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved, ASSP members have shared safety practices that protect their workforces, contributing to the OSH body of knowledge to improve safety for operations everywhere. Professional Safety has published several member-authored articles related to keeping workers safe during the pandemic.

• “Controlling COVID-19 Transference Through Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Systems” (July 2020)

  While information regarding the exact mode of transmission of COVID-19 is limited, this article, by Christopher J. Colburn, environmental, health and safety director for AGCO Corp. and professional member of our Alabama Chapter, looks to some cases that demonstrate the virus can be transferred as the result of virus-laden aerosolized droplets traveling through HVAC systems.

  In this article, Jordan Hollingsworth, an executive with Safety Management Group and a professional member of our Central Indiana Chapter, details the best practices that workers, supervisors and safety professionals on construction projects must follow to protect workers and their families from exposure to COVID-19.
