Active shooter incidents have become all too frequent across the U.S. Between 2000 and 2017, FBI data show that 250 of these incidents occurred in the U.S., leaving 799 dead and more than 1,400 injured. The data show that 42 percent of these incidents took place in businesses. Learn effective strategies to help your employers harden their work sites and prepare employees for an active shooter situation. We will discuss ASSP's Technical Report on How to Develop and Implement an Active Shooter/Armed Assailant Plan, which covers key steps such as performing site risk assessments, creating a site safety and security committee, conducting training and drills, implementing site hardening measuring, activating and auditing the plan and actions to take after an incident.

Hammer is a member of the ANSI/ASSP Z15 Committee (fleet safety) and a former administrator of our Transportation Practice Specialty. He has over 20 years of experience as a law enforcement officer and as a transportation and workplace safety professional working with a diverse group of clients.
