Joel Porten, CSP, ARM, has been named director of strategic initiatives at Alexander & Schmidt, a national loss control service provider. He is a professional member of the Society's Greater Boston Chapter and the Society’s Construction Practice Specialty.
Porten joins the company with more than 25 years’ experience in loss prevention and risk control. Previously, he worked with Vela Insurance Services, where he developed, implemented and managed countrywide loss control services for construction, manufacturing and general casualty market segments.
Jim Schmidt, the company’s president and CEO, says that Porten “adds his tremendous technical expertise and his significant management experience from the carrier side of the business to our team of outstanding loss control professionals.”
“I am very excited now to be helping the company expand its products and services for its current customers, and in new market segments,” says Porten.
Porten holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University.
