ASSP Foundation’s Texas Success

Jul 01, 2018

Safety 2018 gave attendees the opportunity to explore hundreds of educational sessions, networking events and receptions. The ASSP Foundation was successful for another reason: It raised funds to provide programs, educational advancement, leadership development and research opportunities to advance the OSH profession.

Here are a few highlights:

ASSP Foundation Fundraising Safety 2018•At the inaugural More Fun Than Run 5K run/walk, more than 100 people joined in to see the lovely streets of San Antonio. The event’s net proceeds, $15,000, will support the Foundation's mission.

•ASSP Foundation’s 12th Annual Golf Outing was also a hit with nearly 120 golfers enjoying the beautiful Texas weather. The group doubled the amount of donations from past years through raffles, mulligans and contests, leading to $16,500 in net proceeds.

•Numerous members of ASSP's Women in Safety Excellence Common Interest Group generously donated to the ASSP Foundation in honor of Kelly Bernish while at the conference.

•At the House of Delegates meeting, ASSP community members lined up to donate nearly $64,000 to support the ASSP Foundation.

•The 2018 Text4Safety Campaign was led by a generous donation from United Rentals, who agreed to match donations dollar for dollar up to the first $5,000 in donations. Nearly $28,000 was pledged, surpassing donations from previous years. There is still time to help the Foundation reach its goal of $30,000 by texting ASSP to 41444 and following the prompts.

•At the ASSP Foundation Donor Reception, a total of $8,000 was raised when 2018 Applications International Corp. Impact Scholarship awardee Justin Artman stepped up and challenged the room of donors to match his “give back” challenge.

Thanks to everyone for supporting the future of the profession. The Foundation is excited to continue partnering with you in supporting safety students and professionals within the ASSP community.
