  • ASSE prepared to help reverse trend of fatal workplace injuries

    Dec 19, 2017
    ASSE pledges to work with its extensive network of members and stakeholders to help address fatal occupational injuries that increased for the third straight year according to newly released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. There were 5,190 workplace fatalities in 2016, up 7 percent from 2015.
  • Registration opens for ASSE’s Safety 2018 in San Antonio

    Registration is open for ASSE’s Safety 2018 PDC in San Antonio. The nation's largest conference for occupational safety and health professionals – expected to draw more than 8,000 people from 40 countries – takes place June 3-6 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center along the San Antonio River Walk.​
  • Hudson honored by IOSH with President’s Distinguished Service Award

    ASSE Executive Director Dennis Hudson was honored with the President’s Distinguished Service Award by the U.K.-based Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to IOSH or the occupational safety and health profession for several years.
  • ASSE launches search for new executive director

    ASSE is working with executive search firm Korn Ferry to hire its next executive director. Dennis Hudson, ASSE's current executive director, is set to retire in April after two years in that position and 10 years at the Society overall. His replacement will become the eighth executive director since ASSE was founded in 1911.
  • Workplace injuries decline, but ASSE wants further improvements in job safety

    ASSE is encouraged after seeing data that shows a decrease in occupational injuries and illnesses, but the world’s oldest professional safety organization knows even more can be done to protect workers. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that workplace injuries at private industry employers were down by 48,500 cases in 2016.
